This project aims to test an alternative method of reducing anxiety sensitivity that also fits with military treatment goals such as: brevity, low-cost, low-stigma and portability. Cortisol-Augmented Interpretation Bias Modification targets the low-level processes that give rise to anxious thinking versus teaching individuals how to cope with their anxious thoughts (e.g. cognitive-behavior therapy). Therefore, this treatment is not redundant with more traditional anxiety sensitivity reduction protocols and in fact may be especially effective for non-responders to more traditional treatments.
